All 2017 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Rooster Coins available here today ship inside of a Perth Mint black display boxes and include a Certificate of Authenticity with a production number that validates your purchase. All of this arrives inside of a Lunar Series II-themed shipper that features full color artwork for the Year of the Rooster.
On the reverse of all 2017 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Rooster Coins you’ll find the unique silver Year of the Rooster design. Different from its gold counterpart, this image features a rooster accompanied by a hen and three chicks in the design field. Engravings identify the mint and issue name of this product.
The obverse bears the familiar right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this fourth-generation image is now outdated with the release of a fifth-generation portrait in July 2015. However, Perth Mint is continuing with the 1998 depiction on all Lunar Series II coins to maintain continuity on the obverse of all releases in the program.
Opened in 1899 as the final of three Royal Mint facilities, the Perth Mint is now the oldest operating facility in Australia following the closure of the Sydney and Melbourne Mints. The Royal Australian Mint is the nation’s official sovereign facility, but Perth Mint coins enjoy legal tender status courtesy of the Currency Act of 1965.
