The Somalia Elephant Series of precious metal coins from the Bavarian State Mint offers something for everyone with its vast lineup. As of 2017, the coins are available in gold, silver, and platinum, with eight silver weights available and seven gold. Today, the 2017 ¼ oz Somalia Silver Elephant Coin is available from JM Bullion in BU condition.
Coin Highlights:
African Wildlife Series coins from the Somalia Elephant lineup have expanded and improved rapidly in recent years. Already a popular coin with investors and collectors due to its purity and ever-changing design, the mint increased the fineness of the coins from .999 in 2015 to .9999 in 2016.
On top of that, the mint added a Somalia Platinum Elephant coin in 2016 to the series, and has now significantly expanded the Somalia Silver Elephant. These 2017 ¼ oz Somalia Silver Elephants are one of the three first-ever fractional silver releases, along with the 1/10 oz and ½ oz coins. Additionally, a new 2 oz, 5 oz, and 10 oz, coin are offered between the traditional 1 oz and 1 Kilo coins.
The reverse side of all 2017 ¼ oz Somalia Silver Elephants features the same design that has been on this side since 20014; that of the coat of arms for Somalia. It is featured along with engravings of the coin’s year of issue, nation of issue, and face value in Somali Shillings.
On the obverse of these 2017 Somalia Silver Elephant coins you’ll find the latest design in the African Wildlife Series. Continuing the motif of the elephant in its natural habitat, a large, docile elephant is depicted standing amidst the grasses of the Savannah with a hut and palm tree visible in the background.
All 2017 ¼ oz Somalia Silver Elephant coins in this product listing are graded BU. Coins in this condition show no signs of wear and tear, however you may notice minor flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.

"Ordered 25 of 1/4 oz thought that these will arrive in actual \"tube\" but they came in paper roll (original mint packaging though) - totally exposed to air or other elements, very disappointing. Need to find the way to store it right way, maybe empty tubes of fractional gold or something like that."
