Mickey Through the Ages is a richly diverse series of silver and gold coins from the New Zealand Mint. Each new design release features a new image of Mickey, and includes four coins in total. A 1 oz silver coin has colorized aspects, while the three gold options are stunningly pure .9999 gold. Today, the 2017 ¼ oz Niue Mickey Mouse Mickey’s Delayed Date Gold Proof Coin is available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Mickey’s Delayed Date is perhaps one of the most iconic Mickey cartoons from the golden era of Walt Disney animation. In the film, Mickey is awoken from a nap on the couch to the phone ringing. When he answers, he is intensely grilled by his girlfriend Minnie about their date. She assumes, correctly, that he’s forgotten.
The remainder of the film shows Mickey as he scrambles to get ready for the date. Donning his best tux and getting prepared with Pluto’s help, he rushes out the door only to find that he is without his tickets for the dance. Fortunately, Mickey’s trusty dog Pluto brings the tickets to him as he arrives at the ball.
Your 2017 ¼ oz Niue Mickey Mouse Mickey’s Delayed Date Series Gold Proof arrives inside of a wooden display box with colorized image of the Certificate of Authenticity on the underside of the lid. The wooden box ships inside of a themed shipper that features colorized artwork from Mickey’s Delayed Date.
On the obverse of all Mickey Through the Ages coins you’ll find the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s effigy appears on all coinage from the New Zealand Mint, and this particular design is a fourth-generation image created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The reverse of the Mickey’s Delayed Date coin in the collection includes the image of Mickey Mouse, dressed in his tux with a top hat and cane, as he speeds off to meet Minnie Mouse for their date. Though he’s dressed all dapper, mishaps along the way actually help him out by making him look ragged for what turns out to be a “Hard Times” costume party.
The New Zealand Mint is a private minting facility in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. The mint facility does handle production of sovereign and commemorative coinage for some South Pacific nations, but has no affiliation with New Zealand’s government.
