Canada began its march toward independence in 1867 with its confederation movement. That initial move sewed together three existing Canadian provinces in a loose confederation of self-governance. The nation moved slowly over time toward full independence, which occurred in the 20th century.
The 2017 ¼ oz Canadian Silver Proudly Canadian Coin brings the best of a Canada Day fireworks display to life on the reverse of these beautiful, colorized coins. Each one has a spectacular fireworks display on the reverse behind the Canadian flag.
More importantly, each of these Proudly Canadian coins is shipped to you inside of a colorized folder. That folder features a black background with bright, shining fireworks exploding in the sky in the background. The coin is set in the center, with a text of “Proudly Canadian” above. The folder has an easel so you can put your beautiful piece of Canadiana on display for all to see.
The obverse of each 2017 ¼ oz Canadian Silver Proudly Canadian Coin includes the standard right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s effigy is included on all Canadian coins, and this particular design is from Susanna Blunt in 2003.
On the reverse of each coin is a design from famed Canadian coin artist Tony Bianco. In includes the Canadian flag flying high in the foreground, with full color design. The background includes bursting fireworks as you might find at the Canada Day celebrations. Best of all, the flag and the fireworks display glow in the dark so your Canadian pride shines through day and night!
The Royal Canadian Mint is the official sovereign mint of Canada. Founded in Ottawa in 1908, the mint system expanded by 1980 to include a second facility in Winnipeg to help cope with overloaded demand for silver bullion coinage and official currency production in the Royal Canadian Mint.
