2016 is a special year at the United States Mint. While it celebrates the 30th anniversary of the American Eagle Series, it also marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the burnished version of the popular coins. Right now, the 2016-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle coin is available in perfect condition from the NGC, courtesy of JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The first Burnished American Gold Eagle coins were introduced in 2006 as the United States Minted celebrated the 20th anniversary of its popular Silver and Gold Eagle coins. Today, the burnished version is struck with the lowest mintages and revered by collectors for its brilliant finish.
Each 2016-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coin in this product listing earned a perfect MS70 grade from the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit their full, original mint luster and feature no detracting flaws of any kind.
As an Early Release product, these coins had to arrive the NGC depository, or an approved third-party depository, within the first 30 days of the release date. The release date for the coin is set by the US Mint and shipping to the NGC is controlled by the mint.
On the obverse is Saint-Gaudens’ iconic image of Liberty, first created in 1907 for use on the nation’s $20 Gold Double Eagle coin. The reverse of the coin includes the image of a family of nesting bald eagles, which was created especially for these coins by Miley Busiek.
All American Eagle coins are now produced at the United States Mint’s West Point Mint facility. The burnished version of the coin is the only one in the lineup that has never been struck at a different US Mint location.
