The United States Mint is ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its beloved American Eagle coin series. The Mint is now releasing the American Gold Eagle 30th anniversary proof coins, featuring unique, one-time alterations to the coin’s specifications. Right now, the 2016 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle is available in perfect condition with First Strike certification.
Coin Highlights:
For the 30th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle, the United States Mint broke with traditional specifications of the coin for the first time ever. Always produced with a reeded edge in bullion, proof, and burnished, these 30th anniversary Proof American Gold Eagles coins have a smooth edge instead, and feature 30th anniversary text honoring the occasion. This will only be featured on the proof and burnished versions of the coin.
Each of these 2016 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins is available with a perfect PR70 grade from the PCGS. This indicates a coin with its full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind. The DCAM designation is used for proof coins with a strong, frosted design set and deeply-mirrored, clear background field.
The FS designation stands for First Strike. In order for a coin to earn this designation, the PCGS or an approved PCGS depository must receive the coins in US Mint sealed boxes within the first 24 hours of the release date as set by the US Mint.
On the obverse of the coin you’ll find the beautiful image of Liberty striding forth from the nation’s capital. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this is widely considered the finest American coin design in history. The reverse features the exclusive American Gold Eagle design from Miley Busiek; that of a family of nesting bald eagles.
