Only a few of the silver bullion coins available in the precious metals industry today have been around for three decades. The Chinese Silver Panda is perhaps the oldest, but the American Silver Eagle enjoys the highest volume of any coin in the world today. In 1985 Congress passed the Liberty Coin Act, authorizing the production of an official silver bullion coin for the United States government.
