King Tut’s tomb was first discovered by a British Egyptologist in 1922. What stunned many at the time of its discovery was the solid gold coffin. Inside were the remains of a pharaoh who, to that date, had been relatively unknown and lost to the history of the world.
Tut came to power as a young teen as the 12 pharaoh of Egypt’s 18th dynasty during the 3rd century BC. Tut was so young when his father died that he likely had to rely on advisors to help him rule over Ancient Egypt. Though he is relatively unknown to history, one of his greatest achievements was rolling back the changes of his father and resorting to traditional Egyptian values.
Each of these 2016 5 oz Republic of Chad Egyptian Relic Series King Tut Silver Coins have a BU grade. Coins in this condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, but do include minor flaws that include breaks the luster, spotted surfaces, and contact marks from coining.
The obverse side of each of these stunning coins features the right-profile image of King Tut. The coin has a very distinct, incuse design feature and a rough finish that gives it the appearance of an ancient coin in circulation and use for thousands of years. These thick 5 oz coins have a rimless design that further enhances the visual brilliance.
On the reverse of the 2016 5 oz Republic of Chad Egyptian Relic Series King Tut Silver coins is the image of the official crest of the Republic of Chad, a landlocked country bordering six other nations in Africa. This side of the coin also has incuse design sets with engravings that identify the nation of issue, year of issue, and face value of the coin.

“amazing, massive, bold, stark, spartan, old-looking, massive, massive, massive and thick, great texture on the rounded thick rim of the coin… get an extra one, you will be itching to touch this one, maybe keep it near at hand, in case it’s needed for self defense… I would hate to have someone slap in the side of the skull with this. It’s a beautiful design and numismatic too! they come in a nice, but nonfancy presentation/gift box, and 4 come in a larger box with logo and potential to add value. Well worth the moderate premium.”
