Each of these 2016 5 oz Colorized ATB Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park Silver Coins has a brilliant colorized finish applied to the reverse design features. The images of John Brown’s Fort and the surrounding natural elements feature realistic hues and tones that bring the design to life.
Harper’s Ferry was first settled by Native American civilizations nearly 8,000 years ago. In modern American history, George Washington established a national armory here during the American Revolution, and ahead of the US Civil War, abolitionist John Brown lead a raid on the armory that was eventually put down by US Marines led by then-US Army Colonel Robert E. Lee.
The reverse design of the coin features the unique design used to represent Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park. The former firehouse onsite is now known as John Brown’s Fort as he and fellow abolitionists held up inside to try and resist the assault by the US Marines sent to dislodge them.
On the obverse is the common theme for all ATB Silver Coins, that of President George Washington. The nation’s first president is captured in left-profile relief and was created in 1932 by John Flanagan, and matches that used on the nation’s circulation quarter.
These 2016 5 oz Colorized ATB Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park Silver Coins are colorized by Emporium Hamburg, a third-party authorized dealer of silver and gold coins. The United States Mint does not colorize any of its products.
