All of the 2016 2 oz The Good Samaritan Silver Biblical Coins in this listing arrive inside of a presentation box meant to mimic the appearance of a Christian bible. Included inside is a unique Certificate of Authenticity with a serial number that matches the one laser-engraved on the edge of these stunning coins.
In addition to the use of edge-lettering through laser-engraving, Scottsdale Mint struck these high-relief coins under immense pressure on rimless blanks, lending the coins the appearance of ancient coinage.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is a didactic story recounted in the gospel of Luke, 10:25-37 that is meant to teach mankind about love and compassion for those among us who are suffering. It talks of a traveler who has been beaten, stripped of his clothes, and left half-dead along a roadside. A priest and a Levite are the first to come upon the man, but neither render aid. It is a Samaritan that eventually lends aid.
On the reverse of the 2016 2 oz The Good Samaritan Silver Biblical Series Coin you’ll find a design that captures the man’s salvation as a Good Samaritan aids him in getting down from a donkey as he arrives at an inn after being rescued from the side of a road.
The obverse of all coins in the Biblical Series has the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s right-profile effigy was created in this instance in 1984 by British sculptor Raphael Maklouf. Born in Jerusalem prior to World War II, his family emigrated to the United Kingdom and he eventually created this third-generation depiction of the Queen.
