The Welcome to Silverbug Island silver round collection is inspired by the relentless search for silver and gold precious metals, often featuring pirate themes or the sad endings of those who chase silver for a chance at a better life.
Each 2016 1 oz Proof-like Silverbug Mermaid Silver Round available in this listing has a proof-like finish. All of these rounds have a matte or mirrored finish that gives them the visual appearance of a proof specimen. Additionally, the rounds for sale from JM Bullion come with edge lettering identifying the unique serial number and position of production for each round.
On the obverse you’ll find the image of a mermaid swimming up to a sunken treasure. As dolphins watch in the background and a destroyed ship deteriorates in the background, the mermaid cracks open a treasure chest full of coins that bears the engraving of the words “Hold It, Own It.”
The reverse of all Welcome to Silverbug Island silver rounds features a calmer scene on the surface of the ocean. An island of silver coins emerges from the waters in the background, with the bow of sunken ship nearby and a ship reefed on a smaller island in the foreground of the design field.
