China’s Lunar Calendar features 12 different animals representing various birth years. Each animal in the Zodiac is representative of character traits that are believed to be possessed by those individuals born under each different sign. Those born in the Year of the Monkey are curious, fun-loving, and optimistic, if not a little egotistical at times.
The 2016 Year of the Monkey Coin is available in both silver and gold, with each version featuring a slightly different design of the monkey. The 2016 1 oz Proof Colorized Australian Silver Monkey features an adult and young monkey in a peach tree, with the younger monkey holding a peach in its paw.
The Year of the Monkey design on this coin features natural tones and hues added to the animals to give the nature scenes a realistic visual appearance. On the obverse side of the coin you’ll find the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which has not been altered or colorized.
Each of the 2016 1 oz Proof Colorized Australian Silver Monkey coins in this JM Bullion listing is considered Brilliant Uncirculated. Coins with a BU condition exhibit no signs of handling, but may feature production flaws such as breaks in the luster or contact marks from the striking process.
