Released in 1938, The Brave Little Tailor was one of the most elaborate and expensive Mickey Mouse cartoons of the day. In fact, it remains one of the most expensive and elaborate Mickey productions to this day. However, the expense was worth it as the film was nominated for an Academy Award in 1939.
On the reverse of the 2016 1 oz Niue Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor Silver Coin features the image of Mickey Mouse in full color from the film as he leans on a small pair of scissors, complete with a big smile on his face. Engravings include the weight, purity, metal content, name of the film, and release date for the film.
The obverse side of each Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor Silver Coin includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this is a fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty and includes engravings of her name, nation of issue, year of issue, and face value.
New Zealand Mint is a private minting facility located in Auckland. Despite the sovereign sound to its name, the mint does not work with the national government. All New Zealand dollars and official currency are struck overseas at the Royal Canadian Mint or Royal Mint.

"No reviews? Really? You're missing out! Beautiful! just beautiful. Just like the picture, but better. The description states Mickey leaning on a sword, but they are scissors."
"First off, just because you are a mint doesn't give you license to coin other peoples work. I'm quite sure Disney wouldn't have given this mint license to copy their work without approving of it first! I buy bobbles like this for my infant granddaughter to look at when she gets older and learns about Mickey Mouse. This is a stunning coin. It looks just as detailed in person as the photo if not more. Only 10,000 made and the price has gone up since I bought mine. I know the description states Mickey is leaning on a sword, but it is a pair of scissors as the photo depicts. Just a beautifully colored coin. You won't be disappointed. Oh, it's silver. If a collector doesn't want it for a higher price later, there's always the silver."
