Released in 1938, The Brave Little Tailor was one of the most elaborate and expensive Mickey Mouse cartoons of the day. In fact, it remains one of the most expensive and elaborate Mickey productions to this day. However, the expense was worth it as the film was nominated for an Academy Award in 1939.
On the reverse of the 2016 1 oz Niue Mickey Mouse Brave Little Tailor Silver Coin features the image of Mickey Mouse in full color from the film as he leans on a small pair of scissors, complete with a big smile on his face. I'm quite sure Disney wouldn't have given this mint license to copy their work without approving of it first! I buy bobbles like this for my infant granddaughter to look at when she gets older and learns about Mickey Mouse. This is a stunning coin. It looks just as detailed in person as the photo if not more. Only 10,000 made and the price has gone up since I bought mine. I know the description states Mickey is leaning on a sword, but it is a pair of scissors as the photo depicts. Just a beautifully colored coin. You won't be disappointed. Oh, it's silver.
