Canada may have a reputation as home to the frozen tundra, but beneath the frigid landscape of a northern winter, the nation of Canada is also host to a variety of stunning natural wonders. The Canadian Landscape Series from the Royal Canadian Mint commemorates the splendor of some of the country’s most breathtaking vistas. Right now, the 2016 1 oz Canadian Silver Landscapes Series Lake Coin is available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The all-new Canadian Silver Landscapes Series from the Royal Canadian Mint continues the facility’s celebration of the nation’s rich natural wonders. This coin representing Lake Magog is the second release in a planned four-coin series, and follows the previous The Rockies Coin that launched the program.
Designed by Canadian artist Stephanie Gauvin, Lake Magog is captured on this coin in brilliant .9999 pure silver with a colorized finish that brings the view to life. Lake Magog is located in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia. Each coin is produced in proof, with stark contrasts between mirror-like and matte finishes adding to the beauty of its design.
On the reverse face of the coin is the image of Lake Magog in the middle ground, with its tree-lined shore giving way to the looming presence of Mount Assiniboine in the distant background. The coin’s colorization offers a brilliant interplay between natural hues and the light of the setting sun on the mountains.
The obverse of the coin features Susanna Blunt’s 2003 depiction of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. Her Majesty’s image is included along with engravings of her name, the face value of coin, and the phrase “D.G. Regina.”
The Royal Canadian Mint is one of the foremost producers of precious metal products in the world today. Founded in 1908, it now includes two facilities. Its headquarters is located in Ottawa, while a secondary facility is found in Winnipeg.
