On the obverse face of the coin you’ll find Susanna Blunt’s right-profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This 2003 design has featured on countless Canadian coins, both circulation and commemorative bullion.
The reverse includes the Roaring Grizzly design from Leduc, a Canadian artist who has partnered with the Royal Canadian Mint on countless designs in the 21st century. The grizzly’s right-profile image is surrounded by engravings that read “Canada” and “Fine Gold 99999 1 oz. Or Pur.”
Royal Canadian Mint coins are struck either at the original facility in Ottawa, founded in 1908, or the more-recent Winnipeg facility which was built in 1980 to expand production capacity for RCM.
