The reverse side of all Proof Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins features the image of a kangaroo as it hops across the Outback. The stylized background represents the rising sun in the distance, with its rays of light stretching to the very edges of the coin’s design field.
On the obverse of the 2016 1/4 oz Proof Australian Silver Kangaroo you’ll find the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Captured in right-profile relief, it was created by Ian Rank-Broadley and is accompanied by engravings identifying the Queen, nation of issue, and face value of the coin.
The kangaroo is the world’s largest marsupial species, with four recognized subspecies of kangaroo found on the Australian continent. It is loosely related to other marsupials, such as the wallaby and koala.
