The Royal Canadian Mint released the Call of the Wild Series in 2015 to collectors with 1 oz gold and 1/10 oz gold options. What made this series unique was not only its distinctive designs, but the fact that each coin had an astonishing .99999 pure gold content, higher even than the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. Now, 2016 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Growling Cougar Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The cougar is the largest predatory cat in North America and is found in the wilderness throughout the United States and Canada. A silent stalker, most attacks by a cougar happen in a split second with the prey having little to no idea the large cat was even following it around. Prominent throughout Canada, the cougar was the perfect choice for the second design in the Call of the Wild Series.
Each of the coins in the Call of the Wild Series shares some common design elements. Regardless of the animal featured, the reverse design field includes wave lines that are meant to mimic the soundwaves of each animal as it unleashes its call. The designs on the reverse in this series come from Pierre LeDuc, a man whose works include early reverse designs in the Canadian Wildlife Series (2011-2013). His “PL” initials are found within the waves near the edge of the reverse field.
The obverse of all 2016 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Growling Cougar Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation effigy of Her Majesty to feature on Canadian coinage and is just the second designed by a Canadian artist. Susanna Blunt developed this portrait in 2003 for Canadian coinage.
On the reverse of 2016 Canadian Gold Growling Cougar Coins, you’ll find the upper torso and head of a cougar. The beast has its mouth agape and its sharp teeth showing as it growls to warn any predators or prey of its presence in the area.
The Royal Canadian Mint offers the 2016 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Growling Cougar Coins inside of individual plastic cards roughly the size of a credit card. Each one securely houses the coin and features an Assay card on the back detailing the metal content, purity, and weight of the coin.
