The 2015 Year of the Sheep Canadian Silver Lotus Coin has been produced by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of their “Lunar Lotus” series. Each coin has been minted with 26.7 grams of .9999 pure silver and contains a proof finish. These coins will be shipped in their original RCM mint packaging which includes a maroon clamshell display box and a numbered COA.
As 2015 marks the Chinese Lunar Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram, the Royal Canadian Mint added their newest offering of the Lunar Lotus series with the 2015 Year of the Sheep $15 Silver Lotus Coin. People who’s birth dates fall on a goat year are believed to be polite, clever and kind. The Year of the Goat is the 8th animal in the Lunar calendar and represents those born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015.
Listed on the obverse of the coin is an image of Queen Elizabeth II turned in profile as depicted by Susanna Blunt. Unlike most other coins minted by the RCM, the information listed on the Lotus coins are arranged in a slightly different order and feature the face value to the left of the queen with her name to the right. The nation’s name and the minting year are listed above and below the queen respectively. On the reverse of the coin is the image of a sheep with the Chinese character for “sheep” listed beside the animal. Several leaves compliment the background of the coin.
