The American Silver Eagle coin program was introduced in 1986. Since that first production year, the US Mint has produced bullion and proof version. The special burnished edition was unveiled in 2006 to provide collectors with a coin worthy of display.
Burnished American Silver Eagle coins are struck using a special coining process at the US Mint. Each individual blank is burnished before being hand loaded into the coining press at West Point. The blanks are then struck multiple times to create a unique finish you’ll only find on the burnished coin in the series.
These 2015-W Burnished American Silver Eagle coins have a perfect SP70, or Specimen Proof, grade. This indicates that each coin has its full, original luster, and bears no surface blemishes, contact marks, or other detracting flaws. As part of the First Strike Series, these coins were received by PCGS within the first 30 days of the coin’s release.
On the obverse side of each coin is Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty image. The reverse features John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle image, first designed in 1986 for use on this coin series.
The United States Mint strikes the Burnished American Silver Eagle Coin in an extremely limited mintage each year. In recent years, mintage levels have decreased, leaving no time to waste in purchasing these coins when they’re in stock.
