In 2009 the United States Mint finally realized Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ vision for an Ultra High Relief Gold Double Eagle. Now, the US Mint is building upon that foundation with new digital and manufacturing technology to strike a stunning high-relief gold coin.
These 2015 American Liberty High Relief coins are just the second products ever struck by the US Mint using 24-karat, .9999 pure gold. They hold the distinction of being the first 24-karat gold coins from the US Mint issued with a face value of $100 (USD).
Each 2015 American Liberty High Relief gold coin in this product listing is in perfect condition according to the PCGS. Coins with an MS70 grade exhibit full, original mint luster and lack any detracting flaws.
The obverse design of Lady Liberty, with her torch in her right hand and the American flag clutched firmly in her left hand, was designed by Justin Kunz, an artist in the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program.
On the reverse is the image of an American bald eagle in flight, its talons holding an olive branch as it flies. Paul Balan, the designer of this image, is also an artist from the US Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program.
