The United States Mint brought Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ 1907 vision for an ultra-high-relief coin to life in 2009 on the Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin, and builds upon that advancement in coining with this brand-new High Relief Gold Liberty Coin.
For the first time ever, the United States Mint has struck a gold coin with a face value of $100 (USD). The designs on both sides of the coin are entirely new creations that speak to the history and tradition of the nation, while breathing new life into some of the country’s most beloved icons.
On the obverse side of the 2015-W 1 oz High Relief Gold Liberty Coin is Justin Kunz’ modern interpretation of Lady Liberty. Looking youthful and exuberant, she stands tall with a torch in one hand and the American flag by her side in the other. Kunz is a United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist.
The reverse side was designed by another Artistic Infusion Artist. This time it is Paul Balan’s depiction of a bald eagle in midflight that captures the imagination. The powerful bird is featured in great detail, clutching an olive branch in its talons. Balan’s design was brought to life by engraver Don Everhart.
Each of the 2015-W 1 oz High Relief Gold Liberty Coins in this product listing features a Mint State 70 grade from the NGC. These perfect coins have their full, original luster, and no blemishes of any sort. Part of the Early Release Series, the coins were received by NGC within the first 30 days of the coin’s release
