The most sought-after gold coin from the US Mint is now available for a 29th-consecutive year with the release of the 2015 ¼ oz. American Gold Eagle. You can get your hands on this stunning proof coin, in deep cameo finish, from JM Bullion with a perfect PR70 grade from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
Each coin available in this listing today has PR70 grade from the PCGS. This is the highest grade that any coin can receive, and indicates a perfectly struck proof coin. You’ll find no contact flaws, blemishes, or other detracting marks on the surface of these coins. The deep cameo finish means that the design features are strong and frosted, while the background fields are deeply mirrored and clear.
These American Gold Eagle coins are individually packaged inside sealed plastic cases, and include a First Strike Label from the PCGS. Coins released as part of the First Strike series were received by PCGS within the first 30 days of the coin’s release.
American Gold Eagle coins were first introduced in 1986. Unlike its silver counterpart, the American Gold Eagle is struck in a total of four weights. In addition to this ¼ oz weight, the Gold Eagle is also available in a 1 oz, ½ oz, and 1/10 oz weight. Every American Gold Eagle contains .9167 gold sourced from within the US, and the ¼ oz coin has a face value of $10. It is the only coin in the series with a face value that does not correspond to its fractional weight.
The United States Mint strikes American Gold Eagles at its West Point Mint using Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty image (obverse) and Miley Busiek’s family of nesting bald eagles (reverse). Busiek’s image was created specifically for this coin in 1986, while Saint-Gaudens’ creation originated in 1907 and first appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle in 1908.
