America the Beautiful is a 56-coin series from the United States Mint that celebrates national parks, national forests, and historical monuments from across the country. Each year the Mint releases five new designs, each one representing one of the 50 US states, the federal district of Washington DC, or the five overseas territories of the nation.
On the reverse side of the coin is the image of a waterfowl resting along its migratory path up and down the East Coast. Bombay Hook is one of the largest refuge and breeding grounds on the Eastern Seaboard of the US.
The obverse features the left-profile portrait of President George Washington. Based upon a 1786 sculpture from William Cousins, this 1932 John Flanagan design has not been altered for this product listing. Only the reverse image has been colorized.
Germany’s Emporium Hamburg colorized the coins in this JM Bullion listing. Although the United States Mint was responsible for the original production of the coins, it does not engage in colorization or plating of its precious metal products.
