Cutting through 29 counties in North Carolina and Virginia, Blue Ridge Parkway is the longest linear park in the United States at 469 miles in length. The road is honored as an All-American Road, and runs along the Blue Ridge Mountain range within the Appalachian Mountain range, and ends at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Each of the 2015 5 oz ATB Blue Ridge Parkway coins in this product listing from JM Bullion has a near-perfect grade of MS69 from the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster, but also feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws on the surface.
The PL designation for these coins identifies a bullion coin with proof-like qualities. You may notice features of a proof coin in this finish of these bullion products, such as frosted, matte design sets or deeply-mirrored background fields.
On the reverse side of the coin is the image of the Blue Ridge Parkway as it emerges from a mountain tunnel in the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering you a peak of the valley to one side before it heads into another mountain tunnel.
The obverse bears the common design for all coins in the series, that of President George Washington. This left-profile portrait of the nation’s first president was refined in 1932 by John Flanagan for use on the nation’s 25-cent piece.
