Each reverse field features illustrations from French artist Gustave Doré. The 19th-century artist is known for his wood carvings, notably his 241 illustrations on the Bible. These coins are struck on a rimless blank giving it more of an ancient feel with a rough, flat rim rather than one with ridges. Each edge will be numbered out of 1,499.
Gustave Doré was a French artist who lived from 1832-1883. While his 241 illustrations from the Bible remain popular to this day, in total, Doré created some 10,000 illustrations in his lifetime. His work can be seen in works from Edgar Allan Poe, Alfred Tennyson, Shakespeare, and more.
The obverse field of all 2015 The New Jerusalem Biblical Silver Coins features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy, created by Raphael Maklouf, is the third-generation effigy of Her Majesty. It features her in right profile relief, wearing a necklace and earrings, donning the royal diadem. Identifying marks of the coin surround this portrait.
