The 2015 2 oz Cook Islands Silver Norse God Odin coin is the first coin released in the all-new Norse Gods collection from the mint. Honoring various gods from Norse mythology, the Odin coin is the first of nine scheduled releases. In Norse mythology, Odin was the father of all gods and is known for his ability to heal others.
Each of the silver coins available for purchase today features a unique antique finish. This special finish to the coin provides warm, subtle accents usually found on coins that were produced decades or centuries ago. An antique finish adds depth and character to any coin design.
All Norse God coins from the BH Mayer Mint are struck in ultra-high relief. These proof coins are struck multiple times under immense pressure to create a 3D look and feel on the coin, enhancing the visual appeal of the product.
On the reverse face is the image of Odin as he sits upon his throne wielding a spear in his right hand. Engravings above his head read “Norse Gods” and his name in Norse, as well as his name translated in English below.
The obverse of each coin features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s effigy is included along with inscriptions of her name, nation of issue, year of issue, face value, and the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity.
BH Mayer Mint was founded in 1871, and continues its operations today as a fifth-generation minting facility that has become synonymous with quality in the modern numismatic world.
