The ship was dispatched from Earth as part of the United Federation of Planets to explore the 23rd-century world. On the reverse side of the 2015 1 oz Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Proof Coin is the image of the powerful spacecraft itself. Featured in flight through the galaxy, the image of the starship is set against a colorized background of the universe. The image is surrounded by the emblem of the fictional United Federation of Planets.
The obverse side of the coin bears Ian Rank-Broadley’s standard right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her image is surrounded by the engravings “Queen Elizabeth II,” "2015," "1 Dollar" and "Tuvalu."
