Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek franchise started in 1966 with the appearance of The Original Series on American television. Over the course of 50 years, the franchise grew to include four spin-off television series, each of which was intertwined with the timelines of the Star Trek franchise, an animated series, and 13 feature films.
Star Trek: Enterprise launched in September 2001 and was considered a prequel to The Original Series. Throughout the show’s run on TV, the storyline sought to try and tie up loose ends that existed throughout the franchise, connecting the dots that were left unclear in previous series. Actor Scott Bakula starred as Captain Jonathan Archer in the series, commanding the USS Enterprise NX-01.
On the reverse face of these coins is the image of the USS Enterprise NX-01, the starship used in Enterprise. The ship itself is featured in silver finish, with brilliant color added to the universe in the background.
The obverse face features Queen Elizabeth II’s right-profile portrait as created by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. Her Majesty’s image is surrounded by engravings of “Elizabeth II,” “Tuvalu,” and the coin’s face value and year of issue.
Founded in 1898, the Perth Mint was the final of three British Royal Mint facilities opened in Australia during the nation’s colonial period. Today it is one of the foremost bullion coin producers in the world.
