One of the more popular bullion coin programs released from the Royal Canadian Mint in recent years was the Birds of Prey Series. A continuation of the mint’s wildlife-themed designs, the Birds of Prey coins shifted the focus from land mammals to creatures that dominate the skies of Canada. Right now, JM Bullion offers the 2015 Canadian Silver Red-Tailed Hawk coin in perfect condition.

The Birds of Prey Series from the Royal Canadian Mint was created and struck immediately following the successful Canadian Wildlife Series of bullion coins. The latter program ran from 2011 to 2013, and the Birds of Prey issued a first coin in 2014.
Canadian artist Emily Damstra, who created the images used on the final two coins in the Canadian Wildlife Series, was tapped to again create impressive designs for the Birds of Prey Series. Beginning with the 2014 Peregrine Falcon coin, the first release in the series, Damstra created all four designs used in the program.
Each 2015 Canadian Silver Red-Tailed Hawk available today is a perfect specimen according to the NGC. Coins with an MS70 grade have their full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind on the surface.
The reverse depicts a red-tailed hawk swooping down to capture its prey, with its wings outstretched and its beak open. The nation of issue, purity, metal content, and weight are engraved on this side, along with Damstra’s “ED” initials.
On the obverse you’ll find the familiar right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The longest reigning British monarch has appeared on Canadian coinage throughout her reign, and this latest design has been on Canadian coins since 2003.
