The coins featured in this listing have been certified by the NGC to be in Mint State 69 condition.
Coin Highlights:
The Canadian Birds of Prey Coin Series was initiated in 2014 to celebrate some of the country’s most recognized predatory birds. Initiated by the release of the Peregrine Falcon coin, the series was an instant success. Much like other Canadian Silver Coins, such as the Maple Leaf, the Birds of Prey series includes coins minted in 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver with a $5 CAD face value.
The Red-Tailed Hawk Silver Coins feature a common obverse which is shared with most other Canadian bullion coins. This includes an image of Queen Elizabeth II along with the face value and minting year which are etched below. Centered above her image is the name of the queen, inscribed as “Elizabeth II.” The reverse shows an extremely detailed image of the Red-Tailed Hawk. Above it is the word “Canada” while below the weight is shown.
The Red-Tailed Hawk is a predatory bird which calls North America its home. Its territory stretches as far north as Alaska and as far south as Panama. The bird, which is known better in the United States as a “Chickenhawk,” has a diet consisting mainly of smaller mammals such as mice and is one of the most common birds used in Falconry because it is easier to train.
These coins are now available with an MS69 grade from the NGC and ship encased in their NGC coin slabs.
