The official bullion product of the nation of Canada is the Canadian Maple Leaf coin. First struck in 1979 as a gold bullion coin, the program expanded in 1988 to include a Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. Today, the 2015 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin is available in near-perfect condition from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2015 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf in this JM Bullion listing features an MS69 grade from the NGC. Considered a near-perfect specimen, these coins have their full, original mint luster, but also contain a maximum of two minor detracting flaws on the surface.
For 2015, the Royal Canadian Mint issued its Canadian Maple Leaf coins with all-new security features included to deter counterfeiting. Radial lines were micro-laser engraved on both sides, and an additional maple leaf privy was added to the reverse. Inside this privy mark is the year of issue for the coin, visible only under magnification.
The reverse face bears the official emblem of Canada, the sugar maple leaf. It is included along with engravings that read “Canada,” “9999,” and the phrase “Fine Silver 1 oz. Argent Pur.” The privy security mark is featured to the bottom right of the primary maple leaf design.
On the obverse is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. England’s longest-reigning monarch was captured in brilliant right-profile relief by Susanna Blunt in 2003, making this the third-generation image of the Queen to appear on Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins.
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded by the British in 1908 to process gold, silver, and other precious metals discovered in the Yukon Territories. Today, the RCM is one of the finest mints in the world, and operates facilities in both Ottawa and Winnipeg.
