Scheduled for release in January 2015, the magnificent 2015 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic continues the Austrian Mint’s renowned Philharmonic series which was initiated in 1989. The coins feature a design created by the artist Thomas Pesendorfer. The reception for these coins was so great that for various years during the 1990s they were the best-selling gold coins in the world. While Austrian Philharmonic coins have also been minted with investment-quality silver since 2008, the gold coins have an increasingly long tradition as one of the mint’s most beloved coins.
Coin Highlights:
The Austrian Mint has been in the business of minting coins since 1194. With more than 800 years of experience, the mint is, not surprisingly, one of the most highly regarded mints in the world. Like all previous years, the mint will produce each 2015 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin with one troy ounce of .9999 pure (24-karat) gold. The result is a dazzling coin that is eye-catching in every respect.
The reverse side of each 2015 coin is set to feature the famed pipe organ located in the Viennese Concert Hall where the Austrian Philharmonic makes its home. Customers will note the extraordinary detail of this design. The coin is also stamped with “Republik of Osterreich.” The obverse side of each coin showcases an array of orchestral instruments such as the cello, French horn, violin, and harp and is inscribed with “Wienner Philharmoriker.”
These 2015 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins celebrate one of Austria’s foremost cultural attractions, the Austrian Philharmonic Orchestra. As one of the premier orchestras in the world, the Austrian Philharmonic boasts a history that stretches back to its formation in 1842. For music lovers, these coins make excellent gifts, but they are also fine investments in gold bullion and are ideal for any collector of coins.
