There are only a handful of coin programs in the modern world that can celebrate decades of success. The Perth Mint’s Australian Silver Kookaburra is one of those which can tout more than two decades of success, and stands as testament to the purity of metal content and quality of design from the Perth Mint. The 2015 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin is currently available from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
Australian Silver Kookaburra coins were introduced in 1990 as the first in what would become a long line of popular coins from the Perth Mint. At the time, it was one of just a few bullion coin programs in the world to feature a new design on the reverse side each year. The Australian Silver Kookaburra has proven so popular, both for its celebration of Australian wildlife and its evolving designs, that it spawned the Australian Koala and Australian Kangaroo coins.
Each 2015 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin in this product listing earned a near-perfect grade of MS69 from the NGC. These coins have their full, original mint luster, but may also feature a maximum of two minor detracting flaws.
On the reverse face of the 2015 Australian Silver Kookaburra is the latest design for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the program. A single kookaburra is featured on its perch in a tree, with engravings around the outside identifying the coin program, weight, and purity of the product. An additional engraving of “1990-2015” highlights the 25th anniversary.
The obverse face features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998, it is the fourth version of Her Majesty’s effigy to grace the obverse of Commonwealth coins during her reign as the Queen of England.
