Lunar Series II coins from the Perth Mint are already famous around the globe, and the release of each new coin is hotly anticipated by investors and collectors alike. This unique, limited-edition version of the coin features a gilded finish with 24-karat gold covering the primary Year of the Goat design on the reverse.
All 2015 1 oz Australian Silver Goat Coins in this listing have a Brilliant Uncirculated grade. Coins in this condition have no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the striking process.
On the reverse face of the coin is the image of a herd of long-haired goats grazing in a field. The Chinese character for goat is included above, while “Year of the Goat” is engraved below. Only the images of the three goats are gilded in 24-karat gold.
The obverse face of the coin features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The longest reigning British monarch was captured in right-profile relief perfectly by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998, and it represents the fourth-generation image of the Queen on commonwealth coins.
Perth Mint is located in the state of Western Australia. Originally founded by the British, it is today controlled by the state government, and is not affiliated with the federal government’s Royal Australian Mint system.
