The Armenian sovereign silver coin is one of the few in the world to honor a story from the Christian bible. It wasn’t happenstance that led the nation to do so either, as the story of Noah’s Ark from the book of Genesis is deeply rooted in Armenian history. Right now, the 2015 1 oz Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coin is available from JM Bullion in near-perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
- Contains 1 oz of .999 pure silver.
- Issued a face value of 500 Drams.
- Graded Mint State 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
- Struck at Germany’s Geiger Edelmetalle facility.
- Available in a protective NGC plastic slab.
Armenia has a deep connection to the tale of Noah’s Ark. The Armenian nation was the first in the world to adopt Christianity as an official state religion. Additionally, the resting place of the ark, Mount Ararat, was historically located within the boundaries of the nation. Only the redrawing of national boundaries following World War I changed that fact.
On the reverse side of all Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coins is a depiction of the ark before it came to rest atop Mount Ararat. The ark itself is featured in the middle, with a dove flying into the foreground as the sun rises over the peaks of Mount Ararat in the background.
The obverse side of the coin bears the coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia, as well as the identifying features of the coin, such as its weight, purity, metal content, and face value. All engravings on the coin’s obverse and reverse faces are included in English and Armenian.
Each coin available to you today has a near-perfect grade of MS69. Coins in this condition have their full, original luster, with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Germany’s Geiger Edelmetalle Mint, in business since 1218, is responsible for production of these coins on behalf of Armenia.
