American Gold Eagle coins are produced on an annual basis by the United States Mint. The first coins were struck in 1986, with both bullion and proof available each year for the past 29 years. Over time, the program has grown to include four total weights (1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, and 1/10 oz) and an additional version of the coin, the burnished Gold Eagle.
Each of the coins available in this JM Bullion product listing has an MS69 grade from the PCGS. Coins with this grade are considered near-perfect products, meaning that each has its full, original luster, and no more than two minor detracting flaws.
The First Strike labels designate that the coins were received by PCGS within the first 30 days of the coin’s release
On the obverse side of every American Gold Eagle is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ depiction of Lady Liberty, as featured on the original $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle in 1907. The reverse bears the image of a family of nesting bald eagles, which was created by sculptor Miley Busiek specifically for this coin program.
