The great doc was able to turn the gull-wing doored vehicle into a time machine that took him and Marty McFly from 1985 to 2015 and back to the Wild West, while DeLorean’s real-world automobile failed to gain traction in American society.
The Perth Mint has released as series of coins in 2015 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the release of the original Back to the Future. These 2015 ¼ oz. Back to the Future Proof Gold Coins feature the iconic DeLorean time machine in brilliant 24-karat gold. Each proof coin ships in a wooden display case that arrives in a Back to the Future-themed shipper box.
On the reverse side of each gold proof is the image of the DeLorean time machine, altered for flight as it appeared at the end of the first film in the franchise. The background features a Roman-numeral clock, which is frozen at the exact time it was in 1955 when the clock was struck by lightning in the film. An engraving of the weight, purity, and metal content is included on this side.
The obverse bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s effigy is surrounded by engravings of “Elizabeth II,” “2015,” “Tuvalu,” and “25 Dollars.”
