The Royal Canadian Mint is well known for producing not only the finest coin designs in the world, but also some of the purest bullion products available. In 2015, the RCM introduced a unique product with a weight not commonly available in precious metal coins. The popular Canadian Silver Bison coin may be new, but it is attracting attention around the globe. Right now, the 2015 1.25 oz $8 Canadian Silver Bison Coin is available in perfect condition from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Canadian Silver Bison coins were introduced for the first time in 2015, and became the first of a handful of new coins from the Royal Canadian Mint struck with a unique weight of 1.25 oz. The program will feature new designs of the bison on the reverse face each year.
The 2015 1.25 oz Canadian Silver Bison coins in this product listing are in perfect Mint State 70 condition according to the NGC. Coins with an MS70 grade have their full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind.
On the reverse side is the image of a massive bison galloping across the open plains of Canada. Above is the engraving of “Canada 2015,” while the phrase “Fine Silver 1 ¼ oz Argent Pur” is featured below. The coin’s .9999 purity is also engraved on this side.
The obverse features the right-profile image of Queen Elizabeth II, as created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. Her Majesty’s effigy is surrounded by simple engravings that read “Elizabeth II” above, and “8 Dollars” below.
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 in Ottawa to process gold and silver discovered in the Yukon Territories. In the 1980s, a secondary facility was finally opened in Winnipeg to expand capacity of the mint.
