The 2015 1/2 oz Australian Silver Year of the Goat coin is the newest offering from the Perth Mint for their Lunar Series II coins. These coins were produced to commemorate the 2015 Chinese Lunar Year of the Goat and contain 1/2 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Each coin in this series is available in brand new, brilliant uncirculated condition and ships in its original plastic coin capsule from the Perth Mint.

Each coin in this years Lunar Series II features the artwork of Natasha Muhl who designed the reverse side of the coin. In her design are three goats, who appear to be grazing in a field. Two of the goats are staring vigilantly ahead while the other is feeding on some grass. Above the goats is the Chinese character for the goat while below are the words "Year of the Goat."

The coin's obverse, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, showcases the Queen. Her name, "Elizabeth II" is etched above her to the left while the country "Australia" is etched above to the right. Underneath the queen are inscriptions for the weight of the coin, its minting year and face value. This information reads "1/2 oz 999 Silver 2015 50 Cents."

Those born in the Year of the Goat are said to be clever, polite, kind-hearted and artistic. The goat is the 8th animal in the Zodiac calendar and applies to those born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and of course 2015.
