Please be aware that these coins ship in the exact condition as we receive them from the Geiger Edelmetalle Mint. We do not cherry-pick any coins for grading or purchase any second-hand material, so you can be sure the coins you receive will be in brand new condition and ship in mint-sealed tubes of 20. Non-mint lot quantities will ship in individual plastic flips. Unfortunately the wooden Geiger boxes are prone to cracking, and as a result we cannot promise that large quantities will ship in their mint wooden box.
Many silver bullion coins depict national symbols, historical events, and important figures in a country’s history. The official sovereign coin of Armenia is the only coin available today featuring a biblical motif, establishing a deep connection between the nation and the tale of Noah’s Ark. Today, you can purchase a 2015 ½ oz. Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark from JM Bullion.
Each Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coin is struck by Germany’s Geiger Edelmetalle using .999 fine silver. The coins were first introduced in 2011 and range in weight from ¼ oz. up to 5 kilograms. Every coin in the series is considered legal tender in Armenia, and the 2015 ½ oz. Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coin has a face value of 200 Dram.
The Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coin bears the same motif each year, that of the biblical narrative of Noah’s Ark. In the story, God comes to Noah with plans to construct an ark meant to save his family and all of the world’s animal species. Upset with the sins of mankind, God sent a flood to cleanse the Earth. Noah’s family and the animals survived for 40 days in the ark, floating atop the flood waters.
On the reverse side of each Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark coin is the depiction of the ark as it rests atop the flood waters. In the background, the sun rises over the peaks of Mount Ararat. In the foreground, a lone dove is visible holding the olive branch that proved to Noah it was safe to leave the ark. The obverse side of each coin bears the national coat of Arms for Armenia, the weight, purity, metal content, and face value of the coin, as well as the “LEV” mint mark.
Geiger Edelmetalle is one of two private mints operating in Germany. First established in 1218, the Mint is located in the Saxony region of Germany where active silver mining has existed for over 1,000 years.
