However, it should be noted that beginning this year, the coin’s weight, metal and fineness will be excluded from its front design. This exclusion is due to the mint’s unit transition from ounces to grams.
Prominently displayed on the reverse side of the coin is the Temple of Heaven, located near Beijing. Great care has been taken to accurately depict each detail of this sacred temple, including its multiple staircases to its three-tiered gable. Serving as a border to this architectural masterpiece is a ring of text, engraved with the coin’s mintage year and the phrase “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese or “Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo.”
