Limited Mintage of 2,888 Coins!
The 2015 1/10 oz Year of the Sheep Canadian Gold Coin has been produced by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of their Zodiac collection. It is one of only 2,888 ever produced during its limited mintage, making it a highly sought after piece by both investors and collectors alike. Each coin is minted with 1/10 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold and has a face value of $5 CAD. These coins are available in brand new condition with a “specimen” finish and ship in their original maroon clamshell display box with COA.
Coin Highlights:
Prominently featured on the obverse of the coin is a close up of this year’s lunar calendar celebrant, the sheep. Behind it stands a forest of bamboo shoots as a backdrop. With its clean, smooth lines and simple details, this image depicts many of the aesthetics commonly associated with traditional Asian art. Further lending itself to this eastern sense of aesthetics is the “Yang” or Chinese symbol for “sheep” printed on the bottom right portion of the coin. Also inscribed unto the obverse of the coin are the words “Year of the Sheep” in both English and French, along with the coin’s country of issue, denomination and mintage year.
On the reverse side of the coin is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. She is portrayed in profile with a poised expression on her face, wearing her iconic pearl necklace and earrings. Her effigy not only symbolizes Canada’s pride as a former colony of Great Britain, but also their continued allegiance to the monarchy. Engraved along the edge of the coin are her name as well the Latin words, “D.G. Regina,” which translates into “Queen by the Grace of God.”
