The American Gold Eagle bullion coin series has been available since 1986. While the series started with two options in 1986, BU and proof, a third was introduced in 2006 as the United States Mint marked the 20th anniversary of the collection. Burnished American Gold Eagles offer a secondary option for numismatists. Today, 2014-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Burnished Gold Eagles debuted in 2006 with the same weights available in the existing BU and Proof collections. However, the Burnished Gold Eagle Series was only available with fractional-ounce coins through 2008. Following a two-year hiatus in 2009 and 2010, the program returned in 2011 with only 1 oz gold available to buyers.
All 2014-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins available here come with plastic capsules. The coins are housed in presentation boxes from the United States Mint with an included Certificate of Authenticity. Burnished Gold Eagles are created by placing specially burnished blanks into coin presses and striking the design onto the coin just once to finish the product.
On the obverse of 2014-W Burnished Gold Eagles, you will find Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design of Lady Liberty from the $20 Gold Double Eagle. Designed in 1907, this front-facing depiction of Liberty captures her full-length figure with sun rays behind her figure as she walks forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
The reverse side of 2014-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins comes with a vision of the bald eagle family. Designed for the Gold Eagle Series in 1986 by Miley Busiek, this visual shows a male bald eagle flying back to the nest as a female eagle guards the hatchling within the nest.
