Countless artists submitted concept designs for the coins in the series, but only one winner was chosen in the end. Cassie McFarland’s reverse and obverse designs were chosen in September 2013 to represent the sport of baseball on the coin series.
These 2014 $1 Baseball Hall of Fame coins have been graded MS70 by the PCGS, meaning each is a perfectly struck coin in the eyes of the grading company. The “P” mint mark signifies that each coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Cassie McFarland’s photo and signature appear on a label that is included inside the sealed packaging of each of these coins for sale today.
On the obverse side of the coins is the depiction of an open baseball glove. Engravings on this side read “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “2014.” The reverse side features the US Mint’s first-ever curved design; a baseball with accurate stitching on the seams. Engravings on this side include “United States of America” and “E Pluribus Unum.”
