In 2014, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrated the Year of the Horse by releasing a series of commemorative Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins with a horse-shaped privy. Only 25,000 of these special edition horse privy coins were ever produced. Now, JM Bullion has the pleasure of offering you the chance to own one of these unique collectibles.
Every one of the coins in this series has been minted from 1 troy ounce of 99.99% fine silver and has been certified with a (RP) Reverse Proof, PF67 (Proof 67) grade by the NGC (Numismatic Gauranty Corporation). “Reverse proof” coins are distinguished by their primary design elements, which display a mirror like degree of reflectiveness and their secondary design components, which possess a frosted quality. The characteristics of a PF67 grade coin include the absence of any visible hairline marks and the presence of up to four contact marks on its proof finish. However, only two of these marks may appear on the central design elements. As a protective measure, coins remain sealed in their individual NGC certified slabs.
In keeping with the original maple leaf coin design, the front artwork continues to display the iconic maple leaf. From its pointed apex to its jagged blades, the skillful engraving used to depict its minute foliage details is impressive. Located the lower left corner of the maple leaf is the new privy mark. Its design captures the silhouette of a rearing horse. Both the leaf and the privy mark are encircled by nation’s name and coin’s vital information. On the reverse side of the coin is Queen Elizabeth II. Her effigy serves as a tribute to Canada’s former British rule. Inscribed above and beneath her portrait are her name and the mintage year, respectively.
