The Australian Silver Saltwater Crocodile Coin was released by the Perth Mint in 2014 as part of their Wildlife Series. It had a limited production run of only 1,000,000 coins and this particular coin was certified by the NGC to be a perfect MS70 grade. On top of its pristine condition, the coin is also from the early release batch from the Perth Mint.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2014 Australian Saltwater Crocodile Silver Coin has been produced with 1 troy ounce of .999 pure silver. These coins ship in their original certified slabs from the NGC (Numismatic Guarantee Corporation) to protect their perfect appearance. The label displays the year of the coin, the country, mint (P), the name of the coin and finally the coin's grade of MS70.
As you might have guessed from the name, the front of each coin features an image of one of Australia's most fearsome predators, the Saltwater Crocodile. For this obverse image, the artist used Bindi, a popular crocodile who lives in the Australian Zoo. On this side, Bindi is shown at the center with the words "Australian Saltwater Crocodile" wrapping around the top of the coin. Below is the year of issue, the weight and purity as well as the mintmark "P" to denote the Perth Mint.
The reverse of the coin features the common side profile image of Queen Elizabeth II as portrayed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This side is also marked with the coin's face value of "1 Dollar" which wraps along the bottom and the words "Elizabeth II" and "Australia" which are featured to the left and right of the queen respectively.
