Established as a national park by Congress in 1934 and dedicated by President Franklin D. The region was the original home of Cherokee tribes, and first explored by settlers in the 18th and 19th centuries.
America the Beautiful coins celebrate America’s national parks, historic monuments, and significant places. The 56-coin series consists of a five-coin release schedule that highlights new states or territories on an annual basis. Scheduled to run through 2021, the program will honor one place from each of the 50 states, the five national territories, and the federal district.
