Arches National Park is located in the state of Utah, and offers some of the most breathtaking natural rock formations in the United States. The salt bed that lies beneath the area was deposited in the region by ancient seas over 300 million years ago. The beauty of its rock arches is captured perfectly on the 2014 5 oz ATB Arches Silver Coin, available now through JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
- Contains 5 oz of .999 pure silver.
- Federal government issued each coin a $.25 (USD) face value.
- Graded Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
- Available with a deeply-mirrored, proof-like finish.
- Ships in PCGS plastic slabs.
The famous rock arches found inside the park are the result of the underground evaporate layer beneath the surface that led to the formation of arches, spires, balanced rocks, and sandstone fins formed over millions of years of natural changes. Although 2,000 arches still exist in the park, some 43 arches have collapsed in the park since the 1970s.
America the Beautiful honors natural wonders like the arches, important battles in American history, and cherished monuments. The 56-coin series will eventually honor each of the 50 states, the five territories of the US, and Washington DC. The program started in 2010 and is scheduled to run through 2021.
On the reverse side of each coin is the image of the world-famous Delicate Arch in the park. Engravings on this side read “Utah,” “Arches,” “E Pluribus Unum,” and the year of minting. On the obverse side is President George Washington’s left-profile portrait, as commonly found on the American quarter.
Each of these coins is available with an MS69 grade from the PCGS. Coins of this quality have their full, original luster, and no more than two blemishes or flaws. The deeply-mirrored, proof-like finish of these coins results in a unique appearance for a bullion coin.
