Most sovereign coin programs around the world feature various versions of coins, such as bullion and burnished versions. Proof coins are immensely popular with collectors, and striking products in high relief adds to the value and visual appeal of the coin. Somalia Silver Elephant High-Relief Proofs are among the most popular, and right now the 2014 1 oz Somalia Silver Elephant High-Relief Proof is available for purchase through JM Bullion.

Somalia Silver Elephant coins are an excellent investment and collection option for numismatists for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the coins contain .999 pure silver and are produced by a sovereign mint. On top of that, each year a new design is featured on the obverse, creating collectible value for each new coin released in the series.
The Somalia Silver Elephant is available in both bullion and proof each year, but the high-relief proofs have extremely limited mintages. This low availability makes the already popular coins even more coveted. High-relief proofs are made by striking silver blanks multiple times under immense pressure to create contrast between the design set and the background field.
On the obverse face of the 2014 1 oz Somalia Silver Elephant is the image of a family herd walking through the tall grass of the savannas. A large bull elephant leads the way, as the young calf stays close to its mother in the background.
The reverse face features the coat of arms for Somalia. This depiction includes two young leopards on either side of a shield, which contains a lone star against a background of horizontal lines. Two spears cross beneath the shield, and are tied together in the middle by a wreath.
Germany’s Bavarian State Mint is located in Munich, and is a state-owned entity of the Free State of Bavaria. Founded in 1158, today it is one of the five sovereign mints in Germany.
