The 2014 1 oz Australian Silver Horse Coin NGC MS70 pays homage to a part of the Chinese zodiac, the horse. As part of the Lunar series, which began in 2002, this silver horse coin contains one troy ounce of .999 percent fine silver. As good, legal tender, these coins have a face value of $1 AUD.
The reverse of the coin depicts two horses at a stream. One of the horses is drinking from the stream while the other looks off into the distance. Also featured are several engravings including a “P” for Perth Mint, the Chinese symbol for horse and the phrase “Year of the Horse.”
The silver horse’s obverse features the profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Ian Rank-Broadley design has been used on numerous coins, and is well-recognized.
